Editorial Policy
Sourcing
- Stats come from official sources first: school and team sites, conference and league stat services (NCAA, SEC, NBA), and box scores.
- News and reporting from others is credited to the outlet or named beat writer who broke it. We don't pass off someone else's reporting as ours.
- Injuries and player status are reported only when official: team injury reports, coach statements, or on-record confirmation. We don't run rumors or anonymous injury claims.
- We don't make up numbers. If a figure can't be verified, it doesn't go in.
- Quotes are attributed to the person and the setting (press conference, interview, team release).
Corrections
- If we get something wrong, we fix it fast and say so.
- On X, we post a correction as a reply or quote of the original and delete the wrong post only if it would keep spreading the error.
- In the newsletter, corrections run in the next issue and on the web version.
- Send corrections to press@soonerwire.net.
Independence
SoonerWire is independent. We are not affiliated with, paid by, or endorsed by the University of Oklahoma, the Southeastern Conference, or the Oklahoma City Thunder. Any sponsored content will be clearly labeled as sponsored.
Photos and licensing
- We use only images we have the right to use: our own graphics, our own photos, public domain material, and Creative Commons images used under their license terms.
- Photos are credited to the photographer and source.
- We don't use Getty, AP, team, or other licensed photos unless we have a license for that use.
- We follow credential and league rules on video and photo when we're on site.
AI use
SoonerWire uses AI tools to help with research, drafting, and graphics. A human edits and approves everything before it's published, and voiceovers are recorded by a person. Facts and stats are checked against original sources. We don't use AI to make realistic images of real people or events.
